At Vitamin C, we love a good self-promotion by influencers. Lately, we’ve noticed a particular type of promotion that some of the top influencers are using: the YouTube feature. Top influencers have been appearing on other content creator’s YouTube channels to reach new audiences.
This personal brand promotion isn’t new – but we’ve become aware of an influx of YouTube appearances on some of our favorite channels. Influencers are taking the time to meet in-person and film a video, maybe even 2 in some cases, one for each channel. This is brilliant self promotion for many reasons.
Why YouTube appearances work
Exposure to new audiences: Being featured on another’s YouTuber’s channel, who could easily have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, is a surefire way to reach new people. Your feature should probably be with someone related to your vertical and industry, whose audience is after the type of content you post. This is instant exposure and an easy (and free!) way to connect with new audiences.
Making a lasting connection with another in the industry: The influencer community is pretty tight-knit, mostly because everyone hangs out in person. It’s great to have virtual friends, but true face time is the best way to create a relationship. Friends in the industry can lead you to new jobs, opportunities, and help grow your follow count.
Share your personality and shine through: When you are out of your natural comfort zone and in someone else’s video, your real personality gets to shine through. There’s no filter or editing – it’s just you being you. That’s the beauty of being featured on someone else’s channel.
